INDIA VS ENGLAND , 1st TEST - DAY 1 at HEADINGELY, LEEDS
A spectacular display from India saw them end day 1 at 359/3 , asserting dominance over England in the opening Test of the series.
TOSS AND PITCH INSIGHT:
ENGLAND, led by Ben Stokes, won the toss and opted to bowl first on what looked like a lifeless surface - an unexpected decision given Headingley's bowling-friendly pitch.
Early morning conditions promised swing, but India thrived on a benign deck as the sun warmed the pitch turning it into a pure batting track.

Yashasvi Jaiswal - 101(158)
Anchored the start and handled early movement with confidence , reaching his century despite battling cramps late in the innings. He just gave India a wonderful start . He showed great maturity and was playing with a lot of confidence and fearless form.
Shubman Gill - 127(140)*
Captained from the front in his first Test as captain outside Asia, marking his leadership with a brilliant, courageous century,
He became the fifth Indian to score a maiden century as TEST Captain. He showed patience , confidence and courage on the field , with his beautiful drives and shot selection.
Rishabh Pant - 65(quick fire)*
Came out positive , smashing 65 not out , including a six off the final ball of the day , with a great momentum.
A notable stump-mic moment had him advising Gill to "stay down" a light hearted insight into their on field action. Pant and his innovative shot selection is a never ending story , his quickfire fifty was totally PANTASTIC.
Kl Rahul - 42(78)
Came and showed what class is , He totally played very good shots and contributed to the scorecard by giving a good start for the batting lineup. Cover drives of Rahul was a treat to watch for all the fans.
England,s Bowling Response
Ben Stokes was the bright spot with 2/43 , including the wicket of centurion Jaiswal.
The remainder of the attack,including Woakes , Carse , Bashir , and Tongue struggled hard.
